Made in Suffolk

As discussed on BBC Radio Suffolk, this substantial writing desk was commissioned specifically for one of our clients from their own Walnut tree. A lovely piece of furniture with a personal family history to pass down through the generations. Felled in the great storm of '87 the 200 year old tree that was growing on a Suffolk Estate was planked and left to season in a Barn for 20 years.

Charles took great pleasure in sorting through the planks and selecting the most suitable ones for the table frame and veneers. The style is reminiscent of a classical Prussian galleried piece combined with an English contemporary design. Size is approx 1360:w x 950d, large enough to accommodate a laptop, spread out papers and books and still leave room to manoeuver.

We had enough wood to make 2 galleried desks, 2 smaller contemporary desks, and a interesting bookcase and side table with an oriental feel.
This project was an inspirational design process to experience and we always try to find unique ways to work with all our clients.
